Cymophane (Cat's Eye), Chalcedony
About Cymophase (Cat's Eye)
Cymophane, or more commonly known as "Cat's eye", is a very unique looking gemstone. It gets its name from the eye-like slit of light emanating from the center of the crystal. This is caused by how the crystalis formed; it only allows a ray of light to pass across the center of it.
Cat's eye is believed to form a protective aura around the wearer, amplifying good luck and fortune, while keeping bad luck and evil away. The yellow hue of cat's eye is associated with the Manipura chakra, which is the center of power, expression and expansion.
Chalcedony comes in many different colors, and is composed of inter-growths between quartz and moganite. Many popular gemstones are actually different forms of chalcedony, including agate and onyx.
